Part IV : Le Havre and Auguste Perret

Part V : Pont de Normandie (Normandy Bridge)

Le Pont de Normandie (Normandy Bridge) is that bridge that spans the Seine in the north of France, linking Le Havre to Honfleur. There is a toll (péage) of 5.40€ to cross it for average-sized cars. It is free for motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Construction on the bridge started in 1988 and was completed 7 years later, in 1995. It was a huge feat of engineering for its time and at that time it was the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world, with a total length of 2,143 metres (7,032 ft).

Somebody on my Instagram commented that it looks similar to Sydney’s Anzac Bridge, another cable-stayed bridge that was coincidentally also completed in 1995.
